This morning we welcomed Emily and Hollie from the charity Young Lives vs Cancer. This charity was chosen by our Sixth Form Charity Committee because it played a vital role in supporting Thomas Winters-Holmes, one of our 6th formers, and his family through Thomas's cancer journey. Thomas sadly passed away last month but the charity continues to support his family as they grieve.

The Charity Committee worked extremely hard to run a week of activities across the school to raise money for this fantastic cause, and were delighted to be able to present Emily and Hollie with a cheque for £908.33 on behalf of the school.

Emily and Hollie told us about their roles within the charity and how much this money will mean to the families they support. Emily works as a social worker, providing emotional and mental wellbeing support and referrals to specialists, along with practical support such as help applying for financial help for travel, accommodation while the young person is receiving treatment, and bereavement support. Hollie is the fundraising manager for the south coast and works hard to raise the profile of the charity.

Many thanks once again to all who contributed to our charity week - pupils, staff, parents and others in the local community.

We are looking to purchase a bench for the sensory garden as a permanent memorial to Thomas, who loved working in the smallholding at school.
