Recreational Sport

Wednesday Period 5 is timetabled as recreational PE. Attendance is not compulsory but this is a chance for sixth form students to engage in Football, Netball, Badminton and Table Tennis, in their own social groups. 

Activities on offer during the academic year 2022-23 include:

  • Social 5-a-side Futsal in the Sports Hall - social football, a chance to burn off some of the stresses of he week, compete against rival teams or just have a kick about.
  • Couch to 5km Training - Week 1 only. General fitness training with the intention of building up to a timed run. Specific training methods at Angmering, and off-site visits by minibus to Highdown Hill, the Rugby Club or the beach at Rustington/Littlehampton. Developing a training plans and programme that meets the needs of your busy life. 
  • Yoga and Pilates - these sessions will focus on improving core strength and flexibility. A chance to switch off from the pressures of 6th form study. 
  • Basketball - trainingsessions focussed on small-sided practices and improving individiual skills. Games played against local colleges and sixth forms. 

We are also now offering the Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award. A nationally recognised award in teams of 4-7: includes volunteering, skills development and physical activities, building to a Summer expedition consisting of a 3 day walk with 2 nights of camping. D of E participants are recognised by universities and prospective employers as independent, problem-solving and ambitious individuals who work well as part of a team. This will run in Week 2 only.

Netball players train together with the Year 11 students on a Monday afterschool, to build an under 19 squad capable of entering in the local leagues.League fixtures have been arranged with local colleges and sixth forms.
