Dare to Dream Students Enjoy Inspiring Visit to L&G in Hove
A group of Year 9 students recently enjoyed an exciting and inspiring visit to the L&G offices in Hove as part of the Dare to Dream programme, delivered by Lovelocaljobs. Accompanied by Mr Middleton and Mr Bowles, the students took part in a day packed with creativity, teamwork and valuable employability experiences.
One of the highlights of the day was a collaborative challenge to design and plan their own music festival. Working together, students explored different aspects of event management, from creative ideas to practical planning, before taking part in a series of mock interviews. During these interviews, they stepped into the role of employers, interviewing young people for a variety of positions that would be needed to bring their festival to life. This engaging activity helped develop their communication, questioning and decision-making skills while providing an insight into the recruitment process.
The visit also gave students the opportunity to meet their mentors in person. These mentors have been supporting and encouraging the students throughout their Dare to Dream journey over the past year, making the reunion a particularly rewarding part of the day. It was wonderful to see the strong relationships that have developed through the programme.
Students were delighted to catch up with Jack “The Lad” Hayes and Adam Virgo, who have both been an integral part of the Dare to Dream programme since its inception. Their enthusiasm, encouragement and inspirational message once again left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
The day was a fantastic success, with students returning full of confidence, new ideas and a greater understanding of the skills and opportunities available in the world of work.
We are incredibly grateful to LoveLocalJobs, L&G and everyone involved in delivering such a memorable experience, and we look forward to seeing more of our students continue to grow through the Dare to Dream programme.
