Cancer United Pumpkin Challenge

The admin team at the Angmering School took on the  Cancer United challenge to grow the biggest pumpkin to help raise funds for them. We were given a seed, starting compost and growing instructions for a £5 donation. Stella Marshall in the Attendance Office grew the pumpkin for us and we submitted a photo of our entry to Cancer United. Our Pumpkin grew to an excellent 61.5 cm (24.5
inches).

We were pleased to hear the good news that our entry had won and Admin donated the prize to the Angmering School small holding students. Becky Maclaran from Cancer United came to the school  to present the prize and enjoyed discussing plants with the students who were keen to show off all their hard work in the small holding.

The students attend the smallholding for an hour each week and participate in a variety of gardening and craft based activities. They have the opportunity to plant, nurture and harvest the produce that they grow. It allows them some time away from the classroom and to be outside in nature with their peers.

The prize was so generous, lots of packets of seeds which will be planted by the students, sweets and halloween gifts including a diary to plan their planting for next year.
The Angmering school is so pleased to support the work of Cancer United, a local charity working so hard in our area.
