U16 Hockey V Christ’s Hospital

We travelled away to Christ’s with a mixed  team ready for what we knew would be a challenging game. We started well with some good defending and managed to keep the ball out of their half. Then we conceded a short corner which they put away and it seemed to give the opposition some added confidence. They scored three more times in the first half, and we just couldn’t manage to put it away. Allan scored from a short corner but unfortunately it was disallowed.

We started the second half more determined and there were some encouraging signs from our players but we just couldn’t quite manage to finish it off. Tom Carver made a lovely run 2/3’s of the pitch to have a go at goal but the angle proved too much and it just missed. We worked hard and only conceded one goal in the second half meaning the final score was 5-0 to Christ’s.

Special thanks to Harry Squire, Hannah Mays and Regan Dacey for stepping in last minute to make the numbers back up to a full team.

Players of the match, as voted by the players were Tom Carver and Tom Penny. Brilliant effort from both.

The team: Tom Carver (C), Tom Penny, Allan Fraser, Marco Marra, Ollie Ewers, Byron Reilly (GK), Tom Crook, Sophie Ansell, Hannah Mays, Will Armstrong, Harry Squire and Regan Dacey.
