Steve Thornley has been a professional drum tutor since he left Dartington College of Arts with a Bachelor of Arts music Degree with Honours in 1993 and, in that time, has helped literally hundreds of young (and some not quite so young) drummers reach their full potential on the drum kit. For some, this means playing in a band. For others, it’s taking grades. Whatever a student’s motivation and aspiration, Steve is renowned for his ability to shape a teaching programme to the individual student.

Rich MorrisGUITAR AND UKULELE LESSONS: Richard Morris: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9.00am

Guitar lessons are taught by Rich Morris an experienced peripatetic teacher.

Richard Morris has been teaching guitar for over ten years now. From beginners to advanced, he teaches a range of styles, acoustic and electric including jazz, rock, blues, metal and classical. He has a Diploma in Jazz Studies and is grade 6 classical guitar (passed with distinction). 

Rich teaches with enthusiasm and is a very popular teacher.

Kate Hogg is an experienced and fully qualified teacher with degrees in Music from conservatories in Holland and England. She has taught saxophone, flute, clarinet and piano to all ages.

Clarinet group lessons:
An opportunity to learn start to learn the clarinet for a fraction of the cost of private lessons.  This is open to students in year 4 and up.  Run by our woodwind teacher, Kate Hogg through the West Sussex ‘Time4Music’ scheme.  Students can borrow their very own clarinet to take home and practice in between each lesson.  Lessons and instruments are included within the same cost.
Weekly lessons every Thursday after school in M1. (Music block at The Angmering School)
10 lessons per term
Cost: £26 per term payable in advance.

Piano; keyboard lessons

Ella has been teaching since she graduated in Music from the University of Birmingham, specialising in composition. She teaches all ages and abilities of students, lessons can be purely for fun or with a focus on taking either Trinity or ABRSM grades. She also teaches Music Theory. Ella specialises in Classical styles and has an engaging and patient approach, holding the belief that every student is different and will have a different learning style. Ella also teaches an a cappella natural voice choir and writes and arranges music for theatre.

Piano and Keyboard Lessons : Jeni Ward

Jeni teaches piano and keyboard through West Sussex Music. She has an MA in music from Oxford University and has worked with several chart-topping music artists.  Jeni draws on a range of musical styles to support each student’s learning, whatever their musical ambitions and motivation.  She loves working with young people and bringing out the best in her students.


singing SINGING LESSONS: Anna Searight: Mondays from 9am 

Anna is a professional vocalist and recording artist. She has been singing since she was twelve years old and teaching since 2007. She graduated with a BA in Music at Sussex University, specializing in vocals and studying under vocal legend Carleen Anderson (Brand New Heavies).

Anna is creative and adaptable in her teaching style – and has an amazing way of bringing out the creativity in those who she teaches. She is an encouraging and sensitive teacher who has experience teaching all ages and abilities. Anna is also an avid song-writer and an excellent coach for any student looking for help in this area.
