The History department at Angmering is a thriving, vibrant successful place to study.
We believe that all students are individuals and deserve the right to learn in a variety of interesting ways and have their learning personalised to help them progress. Out of classroom learning is important to us to enrich our curriculum and we run trips to Rome, Berlin, Belgium and London, to name just a few.
We also have a day off timetable where all students study the Holocaust before getting the chance to meet a real life survivor and hear their story. The History department were recently observed by OFSTED and were judged to be outstanding in one lesson and good with outstanding in others. Our KS4 and KS5 results are well above national average and reflect the dynamic teaching and commitment the staff have to student success. AT KS4, 28% of our students in 2015 gained an A*-A grade and 72% A*-C, a huge achievement!
At Key Stage 3, students study What is History, Medieval Realms, the Mogul Empire, WW1, Slavery, A Revolution, Jack the Ripper, Weimar Germany and WW2, the Holocaust and Civil Rights. We try to ensure the topics are topical and use a variety of teaching skills, from lively debates to card sorts, from essay writing to keyword splat.
