Business Studies is not just a theory-based subject, it is about real life.
It will help you learn about businesses and the way they operate in today’s society. You will gain skills that will be useful in a wide range of occupations such as law, accountancy and business management as well as for the further study of Business Studies.
GCSE Business Studies will enable students to actively engage in the study of business and economics to develop effective and independent students and as critical and reflective thinkers with enquiring minds; use an enquiring, critical approach to distinguish facts and opinions, to build arguments and make informed judgements; develop and apply their knowledge, understanding and skills to contemporary issues in a range of local, national and global contexts; appreciate the range of perspectives of different stakeholders in relation to business and economic activities; and, consider the extent to which business and economic activity can be ethical and sustainable.
We follow the OCR syllabus and it is broken down into 3 sections as shown below:-
Unit A291: Marketing and Enterprise
25% of the total GCSE marks Controlled Assessment
Unit A292: Business and People
25% of the total GCSE marks 1 hr written paper
Unit A293: Production, Finance and the External Business Environment
50% of the total GCSE marks 1 hr 30 mins written paper
Many students also continue Business Studies in the sixth form.
