The Angmering School Physical Education Department

Physical education and Sport play a large part at The Angmering School.  We are able to offer our students a wide range of opportunities. Key facilities within School include a full-sized sand based astro-turf, five further hard courts (the size of 5 tennis courts), ample field space, a Sports hall, a gym containing built-in gymnastic apparatus, climbing wall and two PE classrooms fully fitted with computers.

During curriculum time our experienced and passionate staff aim to offer the opportunity to try a wide range of activities. The curriculum gives students the opportunity to take up successful examination PE courses in GCSE and Btec through the option column in year 10 and are given the opportunity to complete courses such as the Junior Sports Leader Award during core curriculum time. This provision continues in to Key Stage five, where A-Level PE, Btec National, Btec Public Services Level 2 and 3 along with Advanced Sport Leadership courses are popular.

Alongside the curriculum students are offered the chance to become a Sports Leader to assist with the running and officiating of festivals, fixtures and tournaments across the year. Students will travel into primary schools to aid the provision of sport along with collecting evidence to work towards their leadership passport over their time at the school.

If students are gifted and talented in PE and sport they will join a programme to broaden their knowledge of sport. They will be offered the opportunity to join the team elite initiative, where students travel to university to work on advanced mechanics of sport and broaden their understanding of how sport is set up at elite level and be part of the athlete programme based at the school.

We also strive to offer students ample opportunities to experience sport in an extra-curricular setting. After school and lunchtime clubs are run for students of all abilities in a wide range of sports. These include Football, Rugby, Hockey, Basketball, Gymnastics, Tennis, Badminton, Table tennis, Rounders, Softball, Athletics, Stoolball, Cricket amongst others. After school and lunchtime clubs are run for students of all abilities in a wide range of sports and they will have the opportunity to compete in inter tutor, inter school, county, regional and national fixtures across the year.
