Students at The Angmering School have donated an impressive amount of stationery for local students, holding a ‘Stationery Drive’ last Friday (29th November)
Led by the school’s ‘United Nations Rights Respecting Ambassadors’, the school took donations of packs of stationery from students in exchange for wearing home clothes for a day.
As part of being a ‘Rights Respecting’ school, as part of the United Nations Charter, the school has a team of students who look at various ways of raising the profile of the charter. Following on from similar donations schemes to the local food bank, students this time also wanted to help its own students with stationery supplies.
President of the council, Georgia Millward said ‘We raised so much stationary for an absolutely amazing cause. It has allowed us to do something so great whilst all at our school learn about our rights and that is so important. Thank you so much to everyone who donated.’
Cherie Sykes, English Teacher and Co-Leader said of the students ‘The biggest thing is that this was led by students and Ms Cox and I could watch the team flourish as they took this initiative forward. I am proud of their success’
Donations are already being distributed to students around the school.
