Meet The Team

Miss Carole Savage - Head of Department, Biology Specialist
I completed a BSc(hons) in Marine Biology at Portsmouth University as a mature student. I then worked in IT in Worthing for two years before completing my PGCE at Brighton University. I had always thought I would be an English Teacher but my love of the sea and curiosity about the world around us led me into Science. Teaching is an immensely rewarding job and I know two days will never be the same!
Miss Rose Cross - 2nd in Department, Head of Biology
I completed an MSc(hons) in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Southampton in which I specialised in Neuroscience. I then travelled for 6 months and taught English in Vietnam before completing my PGCE at the University of Chichester. I had always known that I would like a career that involves helping others, and teaching enables me to spread my enthusiasm of science to the future generations.
Miss Nikki McLellan - KS3 Subject Leader -  Biology Specialist
I studied Sports Coaching and Development at the University of Brighton and then transferred to University of Chichester for my final year in order to undertake a dissertation to complete my studies.
Having worked in the Sports and Leisure industry I returned to the University of Chichester to complete my PGCE in Secondary Science. I have remained with the University of Chichester to now undertake a Masters Degree in Education.
I was inspired by my own teacher (Mrs Oram) at secondary school and now see why she loved her job as much as I do!
Mrs Clare Towler - Biology and Chemistry Specialist, Quality Nominee for BTEC
I studied a BSC degree in Biology at York University and completed my PGCE at Reading University. I chose Biology as I loved learning about the science behind 'life'.  I enjoy teaching as it can be a very rewarding job and I like the chance to make a difference. It is never boring!
Mrs Sue Hardman - Teacher of Science - Biology Specialist
I have worked at The Angmering School for the past 12 years. Prior to teaching I worked within the NHS in various roles including GP Practice Manager. I love teaching science as I find it so rewarding when a student suddenly realises they understand  something new and exciting about the science all around us.
Mrs Sarah Hofsten - Chemistry Specialist
After college I moved to Cambridge to complete my degree in Forensic Science and Criminology at Anglia Ruskin University.  Following this, I worked in various roles at the University of Cambridge before moving to America for a year to travel around the West Coast.  In 2012 I moved to Brighton, where I was reminded of my dream of becoming a teacher.  I trained at the South Downs SCITT and was extremely pleased to be offered a position at The Angmering School.  I love sharing my interest in Science and new discoveries with my classes - teaching is like no other job I have ever had.
Mrs Debs Bayford - Physics Specialist, Staff Induction Co-ordinator
I studied Physics and Education at the University of Exeter.  I chose Physics because Science has always fascinated me and as a child I was always taking things apart to see how they worked.  I enjoy teaching Science as I love passing on the sense of wonder, especially when students suddenly understand how the world fits together!  After I left University I spent 18 months working in a bank, and whilst at University I spent my holidays working in Marks and Spencer in Worthing.
Miss Lindsey Cox - Biology Specialist, Subject Leader Health
I completed a BSc(HONs) in Sports Coaching Science at Chichester University (UoC) as a mature student. I also completed my PGCE in secondary school teaching at UoC after a year of working as a Teaching Assistant at another local school. I have lots of different sports coaching qualifications and Netball is my passion outside of teaching, I am currently working towards my Level 3 Coaching qualification. Here at TAS, I strive for all students to enjoy science and learn that science is in everything we use! Teaching here at TAS is exciting as I get to do the extra curricular activities and lead trips to Festival of Speed, Body Worlds and Big Bang to name a few. Along with bringing the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) aspects in to my lessons here at TAS.
Mr Joe McAleese - Physics Specialist
I completed my BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics at the City University in London in 2000, I then went on to complete my PGCE at Leeds University, specialising in Physics. Since then I have worked in several schools in West Yorkshire, Spain, and now in West Sussex for the last 11 years: This is my 3rd year at The Angmering School. Teaching Science is an incredibly rewarding career; I cannot think of any other that gives you the opportunity to support and develop so many vibrant young people in a subject that I love, and hopefully inspire a few along the way!
Mr Jon Street - Teacher of Science
I studied Sport Science at the Manchester Metropolitan University whilst serving in the British Army. I then went onto to study Exercise Rehabilitation at the Joint School of Exercise Rehabilitation. Following my 23 year career in the Armed Forces I completed a BA (hons) in Secondary Education (Biology). I absolutely love teaching and I find everyday so challenging and different.
