Trips

Each year the mathematics department run a mathematics adventure and study weekend through PGL at Osmington Bay, Dorset. All students are invited and the trip which is aimed at students of all mathematical abilities.
During the weekend, students enjoy a range of outdoor activities designed to make mathematics inspiring and show pupils how to apply mathematics in the context of adventure activities. 
Activities include giant swing, abseiling, rock climbing, zip wire, raft building, canoeing, problem solving, tunnelling, fencing, rifles, aero ball and quad biking. A number of activities link to mathematical concepts such as speed, distance, time, Pythagoras, percentages and ratio, BIDMAS and averages.
Experienced PGL leaders lead all activities; their website is www.pgl.co.uk, for more information.  The accommodation is all in en-suite dorm rooms (bedding not included) and there is full catering supplied for all dietary requirements.
