What to Expect Year by Year

All students  can request an interview with the Careers Manager.  The interview explores choices for GCSE subjects and future careers. Students are encouraged to develop their interview skills during this process and discuss their own personal qualities and skills. However,  below are the activities we run throughout the year groups.

YEAR 7

  • We run assemblies involving employers and guest speakers.
  • An opportunity to meet a range of employers through the curriculum
  • An introduction to Unifrog – a careers software program that can help students consider a range of potential Universities or careers in the future and understand the qualifications and skills required in those roles. 
     

 YEAR 8
 

  • A continuation of events following on from Year 7.
     

YEAR 9
 

  • Our Careers Adviser, will be available on Options Evening in March to answer any queries re GCSE options and careers.  
  • Our Careers Adviser will be available for one-to-one guidance.
  • A Careers Fair for Year 9 students and parents. An opportunity to meet employers, training providers and universities and hear them talk about routes into professions and careers. 
     

YEAR 10
 

  • A Careers Fair for Year 10 students and parents. An opportunity to meet employers, training providers and universities and hear them talk about routes into professions and careers.
  • Our Careers Adviser will be available for consultation at the Parents’ Evening
  • Our Careers Adviser will be available for one-to-one guidance.
  • Students will have the opportunity to attend enterprise workshops.
  • Support with CV writing during Insight Lessons and opportunities to meet with local employers
     

YEAR 11
 

  • Open evenings for colleges to be advertised to students throughout the term.
  • The Angmering School Sixth Form open evening –September.
  • Our Careers Adviser will be available for consultation at the Parents’ Evening.
  • Practice interviews offered to all students.
  • One-to-one support available in autumn and spring terms for help with decisions about post-16 options.
  • A Careers Fair for Year 11 students and parents. An opportunity to meet employers, training providers and universities and hear them talk about routes into professions and careers.
  • Our Careers Advisor is available for one-to-one support on GCSE Results Day in August.
     

YEAR 12
 

  • Life skills programme including planning for university and employment during spring term.
  • Careers Fair for Year 12 students and parents. An opportunity to meet employers, training providers and universities and hear them talk about routes into professions and careers.
  • One-to-one support available as needed.
  • Support in accessing Unifrog our online tool which assists in choices and opportunities available whether it be University or Apprenticeships
  • Work Experience for all Year 12s
     

YEAR 13
 

  • One-to-one support available as needed for help with final decisions re degree choices and with applications for apprenticeships, higher apprenticeships and school leaver schemes.
  • Our Careers Advisor is available for one-to-one support on A Level Results Day in August.
