Home Learning

What students can expect

  • Students will experience a range of learning tasks matched to what they are learning. These will be set to enhance their learning in the classroom.
  • These will be linked to work that  will embed, improve, apply, extend or linked to preparing for lessons or assessments.
  • All project work will have clear milestones following the agreed home learning timetable for the class.
  • Tasks may be  personalised to suit students’ abilities or a range of options offered.
  • At KS4 and KS5, home learning tasks will also include coursework, controlled assessment preparation, exam practice and revision. We also expect students to follow their own revision timetable, on top of teacher set homework
  • We now use ClassCharts for home learning.  Follow the link to the website: https://www.classcharts.com/ and log in using the details that we email to parents. If you would like these re-issued or help with it please contact:  classcharts@theangmeringschool.co.uk.

How often they can expect it

  • At KS5, home learning will be set every lesson, up to a maximum of 3 hours per day.
  • At KS4, home learning will be set every week for each subject, up to a maximum of 2 hours per day.
  • At KS3, home learning will be set weekly for core subjects and fortnightly for foundation subjects, up to a maximum of 1 hour per day

How will you know if your child has home learning to do

  • Students need to  check their home learning every day on ClassCharts. They should plan ahead and make a note of home learning deadlines. This is particularly important if a piece of work is set over two or more weeks, or is an ongoing home learning task that may be updated.  All of this can be checked on ClassCharts.
  • Please do check on ClassCharts as detailed above.

Feedback on Home Learning

  • Teachers are expected to give feedback on home learning promptly. This will be a mixture of verbal and written. It will also be linked to an assessment so feedback may be linked here.
  • It is the teacher’s responsibility to manage the non-completion of home learning, liaising with parents where necessary.
  • All academic reviews have a range of four descriptors on home learning efforts: Excellent, Good, Inconsistent or Poor.

We value your feedback on all elements of home learning. Please contact us by email, telephone or in person - office@theangmeringschool.co.uk or 01903 772351.
