You're invited to the Art & DT Summer Exhibition

As part of our Angmering Calling summer festival we are opening our doors for parents, friends and local members of the community to view our exhibition this year.

We are open on Saturday 19th June from 10am until 3pm.

Take a look at our online brochure and follow us @angmeringschool on twitter and Facebook to see what else is going on.

Angmering Calling - Summer Festival

Welcome to the first ‘Angmering Calling’ festival organised by The Angmering School. As the Headteacher of The Angmering School I am delighted to support ‘Angmering Calling’, this is a great opportunity for us to strengthen our creative links with the local community and for our students to showcase their creative talents. My thanks go to Mrs Hobbs and all of our staff and students who have worked so hard to bring this inaugural event to fruition. I sincerely hope that you will take this chance to experience a sample of the amazing creative talent in our local area.

A HUGE thank you to The Body Shop who have kindly donated 10 laptops to our school for our students use. The Body Shop is committed to supporting local communities and earlier this year donated stationery items and parent pamper packs as part of our school foodbank scheme.

Sapphire reading award

Congratulations to Michael Marshall in 8PLY who has just been awarded his Sapphire reading badge and certificate. Since joining the school in Year 7, Michael has read over 10 million words! What an amazing achievement.

Angmering School Sculpture Exhibition
Over the past two terms, Year 9 students at The Angmering School have been working with artist Tim Ward and engineers from local firm SI Protech to develop their ideas for a new sculpture for the village, as part of the cultural programme Arun Inspires, run by national youth arts charity, Artswork. The winning students design will form the basis of Tim Ward's creation of a Sculpture for the village. This will be installed in Autumn 2021 outside the Community Centre. You can view the final designs and vote for your favourite on the links below.

The Angmering School community – better together. It has been fantastic to see the majority of our students returning to school and to once again walk around the school and soak in the ‘buzz’ of real-life learning! Our students are also delighted to be back and you can read the full story here.

A HUGE thank you to our Covid-19 testing team of staff & volunteers who have now completed just under 4,000 tests over a period of just 6 days. The students have been fabulous & the dedicated team carried out this mammoth task with great care, diligence, & kindness.

We are delighted to share the work of Angmering students Abbie and Cerys, who are part of the St. Peter & Paul Church Chatterbooks+ group in Rustington. You can read about the girls involvement in raising awareness of climate change, and the differences we can all make, on the link here

Welcome to the Big Day of Creativity (BDoC!)

Our BDoC is linked with a national drive to encourage creativity for all; the Great Big Art Exhibition is just one part of this and allows anyone to share their creative efforts with the world! On Monday 8th March we would like everyone to get creative; whether you want to express yourself through photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, dance, cooking, baking, writing, filmmaking or in any other way, we want you to let your creativity free and then share your creations. There are loads of ideas to get you thinking in the 'Make and Bake Activities' sheets and The Great Big Day of Creativity presentation explains how you can share your work with other artists across the school and country.

Get away from those screens on Monday 8th March.  Get creative and have fun!

Community post. A reminder that the Angmering Bowl (Skatepark and gym equipment) is closed until at least the 29th March.  The area is fenced.  Please do not attempt to access the area until is reopened.

We are delighted that our good friends at The Body Shop have made a significant donation of items to the school in order to support our students and their families during the final phase of 'Online School'. The Body Shop is committed to supporting local communities and has long supported us with our Careers and Enterprise work, providing valuable opportunities for students to learn about the world of work. Their generous donation included paper, exercise books, pens, pencils and art materials for our students, and some lovely 'pamper parcels' for their parents/carers too. We all want to express our sincere thanks to the Body Shop for their continued support.

With thanks to Simon Pettiford for the link, please find below a short video which shows some simple exercises which can help to reduce neck and back stiffness when sitting at a desk for extended periods. The presenters are both qualified physiotherapists and I am told by a reliable source that doing these stretches can make a real difference. Have a good day and remember to try to take mini breaks where you can. Mr Liley
