The year 8 have been refining their research and presenting skills in order to prepare for the Year 8 Live Debate “Who’s the greatest Briton?”.
Students worked hard to select relevant information and evidence to champion a great Briton in the hope of persuading the rest of the year group to agree with them! Some of the contenders included Tim Berners Lee, Florence Nightingale, Winston Churchill and Queen Elizabeth II. Students listened intently to all the arguments and offered some incredibly challenging, and often controversial questions to dig deeper into the qualities of our great Britons. In the end, Tim Berners-Lee was voted Year 8s’ Greatest Briton. Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee is an English engineer and computer scientist, best known as the inventor of the World Wide Web. Congratulations to all of Year 8 for their wonderful enthusiasm and energy!
