This year’s theme for National Libraries Week has been “Discover Something New”. Year 7 students have been joining in the fun during their regular Library lessons by playing the Reading Game. This involves making quick assessments about books from a variety of genres, discussing which has the best front cover, blurb and first page. Teams were challenged to beat the whistle and were soon able to make swift and accurate judgements about old favourites and new titles. The queues to borrow books at the end of each lesson were testament to the game’s success.
Meanwhile, four Year 11 Library Monitors have designed a brilliant book quiz. There’s still time to enter as the closing date is Wednesday 18th October.
Students and staff were encouraged to borrow double their usual allocation of books to celebrate National Libraries Week and these won’t be due back until after the half term break, so there will be no chance of running out of excellent reading material during the holidays.
